But rather than being stuck in the past, the key to the success of Doddington is in the looking forward – new plans have been hatched and risks taken. Saturday Night Seven – a new initiative – takes place in the café and sees head chef, Tom Doran create a range of seven dishes revealed only on the night. Much of this produce hails from the garden and contributes to homemade fennel bread and kitchen garden apple and rhubarb crumble. Tom’s also been known to send out a dish made of braised local goat, though this were not apparent during my visit.
